Mentoring and Coaching
We have provided these services to executives and academics in the Higher Education and Third Sectors, and in business. Our work has enabled people to transit from their existing position into new posts or indeed to cross into new sectors; we have also dealt with issues concerning relationships with other colleagues, the management of careers and the job at hand. The following are some examples of the work we have done:
- We worked with an academic at a university who had trouble adapting to the School she had recently joined. The School was dominated by male colleagues and as a woman with a foreign background, she felt she was not accepted nor did she understand the implicit norms of the School. Later she moved to another School in the university which she found more congenial. Our work helped her to explore her own perspective and to realise her potential in a new environment.
- We provided coaching advice to a senior executive at a FTSE 100 company to assist his transit from that company to a university environment, where he now heads an important department with connections to the private sector and to government. We continue to support him in adapting to the new environment whilst retaining and using the skills he developed in the private sector.
- We mentored a senior third sector executive to enable him to complete a Phd. thesis. As head of an international alternative dispute resolution programme and co-ordinator of educational programmes, he needed help completing his Phd. while undertaking his busy role.
